Saint Phoebe: the Deacon

I was commissioned to create this piece to commemorate the birth of one of my best friend's daughter. It is a modern/street art interpretation of a traditional religious icon. Using mixed media and collage work, its goal is to encourage looking deeper and being more genuine and curious about people. We make the choice to settle for seeing a vague figure, or only notice what most immediately stands out to us. Or we can choose to inquire further where there is deeper context and try to understand what lies underneath our initial presumptions.

What will be found is beyond information, but understanding for relationship.
